ChristmasFairWhat can you do to help?

Being able to access early years funding does not, sadly, cover all the costs of running Pre-school and for many years we have actively used fundraising as an alternative source of income from which we can purchase some of the ‘nice-to-have’ resources and equipment that our children benefit so much from.

There are many ways in which you can help at Oatands Pre-school whether as a volunteer or by stepping forward to join our Committee as a Trustee. We love to have parents/carers volunteering to help during session time – this is a great opportunity for you to get to know us and what we do and also for us to get to know you and your child.

At Pre-school we rely on support and help from our parents/carers as well as our many supporters in the community. We prioritise our fundraising efforts and run a variety of events throughout the year to include our Christmas Fair, Jumble Sale, Easter Eggstravaganza and regular Wesley Teas, and we are always looking for new and innovative ways to raise funds for Pre-school.

Like many early years settings we do receive some local authority funding. All 3-4 year olds in England can access 570 hours of free early education or childcare per year, usually taken as 15 hours each week for 38weeks of the year. There is also funding available for eligible two year olds. For more information on early education places and funding in North Yorkshire please click here.

Jumble1Our Team

Our Fundraising Team is open to anyone who would like to help raise money for the Pre-school this includes current parents/carers, past parents/carers, grand-parents, your childhood friend, neighbour basically ANYONE! We normally appoint a Fundraising/Events Co-ordinator, who is a member of our Committee to oversee and lead our strategy for the year.

We set a fundraising target each year and we ask our staff and children what equipment / resources they would most like/need to enhance and improve our provision, then off we go! We meet every half term or so to plan ideas and discuss events, share our fundraising experiences and plan for the future of the Pre-school.

It is truly rewarding to be part of an event, help raise the funds and then see the resources purchased and the children’s delighted faces as they use them. You don’t have to be a ‘Committee member’ or ‘Trustee’ to be on our Fundraising Team or to help with our fundraising events, however, if you are interested in becoming a trustee click here for more information. Our Committee Secretary, Sharon Lister, or the Pre-school Administrator, Sarah Wilkinson, can provide you with all the information you need.
